Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1 Sites with intrabony defects and persisting pockets, probing depth more than 6mm and bleeding on probing (BOP) at re-evaluation 6 weeks after non-surgical periodontal therapy. 2 Radiographic intrabony component more than 3mm. 3 Limited to no extension of the defect on the lingual or palatal side as assessed by preoperative bone sounding. 4 Full mouth plaque score (FMPS) and full mouth bleeding score (FMBS) less than 20% before surgery.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1 Pregnant or lactating women. 2 Tobacco, Smoking. 3 Untreated periodontal conditions. 4 Any condition associated with poor compliance or failure to maintain good oral hygiene. 5 Acute infectious lesions in areas intended for surgery. 6 Teeth with grade II or higher mobility. 7 Restorations or carious lesions on root surfaces that are associated with the intrabony defect.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To evaluate the change in Wound healing, Gingival Recession Clinical attachment levelTimepoint: 1 Wound healing (WH)- Recorded using Landry Healing index (HI), after periodontal surgery at baseline, 3 months. 2 Gingival recession (REC) Measured using lower border of customized occlusal stent to the crest of the gingival margin using UNC-15 Periodontal probeat baseline, 3 months. 3 Clinical attachment level (CAL) -Measured using the lower border of customized occlusal stent to the height of the papilla using same UNC-15 Periodontal probeat baseline, 3 months.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To evaluate the measures outlined were changes in Probing depth, Bleeding on probing, Intrabony defects.Timepoint: 1 Pocket Depth (PPD) - Measured using lower border of customized occlusal stent from gingival margin to base of the pocket using UNC-15 - Periodontal probe at baseline, 3 months. 2 Intrabony defect fill: will be assessed at baseline, 3 months with standard IOPA. 3 Full mouth bleeding score (FMBS)- will be assessed by sulcus bleeding index -Muhlemann H.R.and Son at baseline, 3 months.
