Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1.Adult patients of both gender (18 years to 60 years) scheduled for elective surgeries under general anesthesia with endotracheal intubation. 2.Patients with American Society of Anaesthesiologists (ASA) physical status classification I, II. 3.Patient s with body mass index (BMI less than 30) .
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1.Patients who are less than 18 years old.and above 60 years old 2.Patients undergoing procedures under regional or local anaesthesia. 3.Patients with a known history of difficult intubation or documented difficult airway in previous surgeries. 4.Patients with severe or unstable medical conditions, such as ASA physical status classification III & above and BMI more than or equal to 30 that may significantly impact airway management. 5.Patients with a history of significant airway trauma or previous upper airway surgery. 6.Pregnant patients.
Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| The primary outcome of this study is to assess the individual predictive values of the Modified Mallampati Classification (MPC), Sternomental Distance (SMD), Ratio of Height to Thyromental Distance (RHTMD), and Acromio axillary suprasternal notch index (AASNI) in identifying patients at risk of difficult intubation. utilising the above predefined criteria ,the occurrence of difficult intubation if any will be observed.Timepoint: During intubation , Intubation Difficult Scale ,Time to intubation will be determined. | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| The secondary outcome of the study will be the predictive value of the assessed parameters (MPC, SMD, RHTMD, AASNI, etc.) in anticipating difficult intubation. This will involve evaluating the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), & negative predictive value (NPV) of each parameter in identifying patients who experienced difficult intubation.Timepoint: 2 days after sample collection is done | — |
