Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients who are willing to participate in the study and can fill out the questionnaires. Patients in age group of 30 years to 70 years. Patients with confirmed diagnosis of type 2 DM. The participants will be divided in two groups. Group I- 40 patients with controlled type-2 DM (HbA1c values lesser than or equal to 6.4 to 7 gm. %) Group II- 40 patients with uncontrolled type-2 DM (HbA1c values greater than 7 gm %)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with known systemic diseases and conditions (other than T2DM) affecting salivary glands. Patients with history of alcoholism and current smokers. Patient undergoing corticosteroid, hormone therapy or history of taking medications known to increase the risk of gingival hyperplasia. Patients with history of head and neck radiotherapy / chemotherapy. Pregnancy and lactating mothers. Patients with self-reported psychiatric disorders or on psychotic medications
