Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: The study population will include 128 patients above 18 years with prevalent non-HD stage 5 CKD with eGFR less than 15 for 3 months or more who are being planned for initiation of maintenance hemodialysis Also a minimum 30 healthy controls with normal renal function and without any comorbidities like hypertension or diabetes systemic diseases chronic lung/liver/cardiac diseases and active infections will be included in the study to determine baseline metabolomic characteristics
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Patients who are scheduled for a renal transplant within a year those who are already initiated on hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis are pregnant have malignancy have infections or multi-organ failure will be excluded from the study
