Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.patients of either sex 2.age between 18 -65 years 3.body mass index of 18-30 kg/m2 4.ASA I and II physical status

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.patients refusing to participate in the study 2.prior history of gastroesophageal reflux disease or upper gastrointestinal surgery 3.pregnant and lactating mothers 4.diabetic patients 5.preoperative use of steroids 6.failed subarachnoid block or conversion to general anesthesia 7.duration of surgery more than 6 hours
