Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ASA1;2;3 patients belonging to age group 18 to 70 years, all genders, who are mentally sound and communicable.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patient refusal to participate in study. Allergy to study drugs. Patients with chronic cancer pain who have received opioids for pain management. Patients with chronic kidney or liver disease or AV conduction disorder or heart failure. Patients with unplanned mechanical ventilation in post operative period.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To compare hemodynamic stability and perioperative parameters (blood pressure, mean arterial pressure,ECG, Spo2, Heart rate) between opioid based anesthesia group and opioid free group.Timepoint: At the time of induction, followed by every 5mins until half an hour then every hour Intraoperatively until the end of surgery then post operative day 1,2 and 3.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Comparison of post operative recovery profile between the two groups in terms of extubation, early mobilisation, length of stay in intensive care & length of stay in hospital. To compare the incidence & severity of peri operative complications between the two groups. To compare the total opioid consumption, total amount of analgesia drugs given in both the groups.Timepoint: At the time of induction, Intraoperative hourly, then post operative day 1,2,3 & on the day of discharge
