Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: patients aged between 18 and 75 years, classified as American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status III, and undergoing elective cardiac surgeries such as coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve replacement, or combined procedures.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: patients with known hypersensitivity to lidocaine, chronic pain disorders requiring regular analgesics, history of drug abuse, psychiatric illness, significant hepatic or renal dysfunction, and patients who were hemodynamically unstable post-operatively or required prolonged overnight mechanical ventilation.
