Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All patients aged 18 years to 65years (American society of anaesthesiologist grading I, II, III) to be taken for Oral cancers.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients refused to participate in the study 2. Patients with score >3 (NRS 2002) 3. BMI or equal to 30 kg/m2 4. Recurrent oral cancer, metastasis 5. Patients with preoperative radiotherapy or chemotherapy, diabetes mellitus, haematological disease, psychiatric illness, systemic inflammation, immune-modulatory therapy, those with increased risk of gastric aspiration. 6. Patients in whom perioperative albumin supplementation is expected 7. Patients who have had blood transfusion in last 15 days 8. Patient with nil mouth opening 9. Patients with deranged LFT

To investigate the effect of preoperative carbohydrate loading on perioperative catabolic stress response which will be assessed by delta change in albumin levels (preop Day 2) in patients undergoing surgery for oral cancers.Timepoint: BASELINE, 24HRS, 48HRS

1. To assess effect of carbohydrate loading on biomarkers (albumin, IL6, NLR, CRP) of stress response on Day 1 & Day 3 2. To determine the lowest temperature attained by patient during the perioperative period. 3. To assess blood sugars in both the groups at regular intervals till 24 hrs post-surgery 4. To compare weight loss at Day 7 in both the groups 5. Length of stay, post operative complications 6.
