Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ASA Grade 1, 2 and 3; 18-59 years; posted for elective cardiovascular surgery which includes: mitral valve replacement, double valve replacement, CABG and correction of septal wall defects.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: ASA grade 4 and above , patients with severe infection, cardiac/liver/kidney disease, congenital disorder, obesity or underweight patients, cancer patients, patients who are already taking opioids in any form, pregnant patients and patients with neurological illnesses.

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Opioid requirement in postoperative period in patients with genetic polymorphism with OPRM 1 A118G.Timepoint: From the end of surgery (baseline) till 36 hours in postoperative period.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
A. To assess post-operative pain at 8, 24 & 36 hours after cardiovascular surgery using NRS rating scale. B. To analyse the incidence of postoperative nausea & vomiting at 8, 24 & 36 hours after cardiovascular surgery using the NRS rating scale. C. To analyse sedation score at 8, 24 & 36 hours after cardiovascular surgery using RASS scoring system.Timepoint: A. From end of surgery ( baseline) till 36 hours in post operative period. B. From end of surgery ( baseline) till 36 hours in post operative period. C. From end of surgery ( baseline) till 36 hours in post operative period.
