Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Pediatric patient (1 month to 2 years) undergoing major surgery in APC OT, under general anaesthesia requiring radial artery cannulation

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Parental refusal to participate in the study. Recent history of radial artery puncture Malformed arterial system on USG Contraindication to arterial cannulation (Local hematoma, wound infection, History of peripheral vascular disease, positive modified Al len s test) Coagulopathy Unstable hemodynamics (Arrhythmia or Hypotension or Shock requiring vasopressor support) Sepsis

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To compare the number of attempts for successful radial arterial cannulation between two groups. Timepoint: Baseline

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To evaluate the change in blood flow and cross sectional area of radial artery on ulnar artery compression, overall success rate of radial artery cannulation in two groups and time to successful attempt. Timepoint: Baseline
