Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Presence of a positive result for at least three of the following criteria: the Neer impingement test, the Hawkins Kennedy impingement test, the empty can test, pain with resisted external rotation, palpable tenderness at the insertion of the supraspinatus or infraspinatus, or painful arc from 60 to 120 during active abduction. No ROM loss greater than 25% in at least 2 planes of motion and no passive external rotation loss greater than 50% of the uninvolved shoulder.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Full thickness supraspinatus or infraspinatus tendon tears confirmed by MRI or CT scan. Adhesive capsulitis as identified by multiple plane passive motion loss. Cervical radiculopathy. History of bony trauma (fracture, dislocation) to the shoulder joint. Previous shoulder surgery.
