Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria for Group1 children: 1)Children aged between 3 - 6 years. 2)Children having no caries or no change in enamel. 3)Parents/guardians who provide informed consent. Inclusion criteria for group 2 children: 1)Children aged between 3 - 6 years. 2)Children diagnosed with caries, having a score of ICDAS 1 - 3. 3)Parents/guardians who provide informed consent. Inclusion criteria for Group 3 children: 1)Children aged between 3 - 6 years. 2)Children diagnosed with at least one carious tooth, having a score of ICDAS 4 - 6. 3)Parents/guardians who provide informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria for all three groups: 1)Children with systemic diseases or conditions affecting salivary flow. 2)Use of antibiotics or anti-inflammatory drugs within last 3 months. 3)Presence of oral mucosal diseases.

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To determine the levels of salivary biomarkers - Fibronectin, Statherin and Cathelicidin LL-37 in the saliva of children with and without caries and to assess the relationship of these biomarkers to dental caries severity. Timepoint: 18 months

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To determine the levels of salivary biomarkers - Fibronectin in the saliva of children with & without caries & to assess the relationship of these biomarkers to dental caries severity. Timepoint: 17 months
