Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ASA 1 and ASA 2, Electively performed surgical cases coming under ASA 1 and ASA 2 American society of Anaesthesiologists grading

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Above ASA 2 ( ASA 3,4,5) - American society of Anaesthesiologists grading. Presence of diabetes mellitus, Emergency posted cases, patients less than 18 and more than 60

MeasureTime frame
To assess the efficacy of the drink, in improving post operative recovery and the length of hospital stay in assessing decreased incidence of post- operative nausea and vomitting and on time taken for return of bowel sounds and early ambulationTimepoint: assessed at discharge from hospital (average 4 days) in the form of a checklist and at 1 week - for speed of recovery

1. To assess changes in insulin sensitivity 2.to assess the safety profile of this drink upto 2 hours before surgery & unto 1 week after surgeryTimepoint: assessed with a checklist at baseline ( 2 hours prior to surgery), discharge from hospital (4 days ) & 1 week (follow up)
