Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Patients in septic shock with Mean Arterial Pressure less than 65. 2.Septic shock patients admitted in ICU.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Age less than 18 years and more than 65 years. 2.Pregnancy / breastfeeding. 3.History of HIV infection. 4.Any known pre-existing endocrine/neuro endocrine, PCOD, liver disease. 5.Any treatment with etomidate, glucocorticoid, estrogen in preceding 6 months.

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To calculate association of cortisol level as a predictor of mortality in septic shock patient admitted in ICU.Timepoint: On day 1,3,5,7,9,11 of ICU admission.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To understand cortisol level as predictor of severity of sepsis in relation to SOFA score.Timepoint: ON day 1,3,5,7,9,11 of ICU admission.
