Intervention1: Blowing Shankh: Confirmed cases of OSA (mild to moderate severity) who shall practice shankh (conch) blowing (5 times, twice a day, 5 days a week) in addition to usual care for 6 months

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) Confirm diagnosis of mild to moderate apnea, apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) mild: if greater than or equal to 5 AHI lesser than or equal to 15 per hour, moderate if greater than 15 AHI lesser than 30 per hour, who deny continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) or PAP. 2) Those practicing yoga. 3) Those who give written informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Patients opting for mandibular advancement device or surgery. 2) Hypothyroidism, significant cardiovascular diseases, pulmonary or metabolic diseases, previous stroke, neuromuscular and psychiatric diseases. 3) Cranio-facial malformation or severe obstructive nasal disease. 4) Patients with history of Pneumothorax or bullous lung disease. 5) Use of drugs that act on Central nervous system, current or planned. 6) Pregnancy and lactation.

1.To evaluate efficacy of shankh (conch) blowing intervention compared to usual care (moderate intensity walking and breathing exercises) on polysomnographic parameters in patients with obstructive sleep apnea. 2.To assess the efficacy of shankh (conch) blowing compared to usual care (moderate intensity walking and breathing exercises) on inflammatory biomarkers in patients with obstructive sleep apnea. Timepoint: 6 months

1. To investigate the correlation between inflammatory biomarkers and the apnea-hypopnea index (AHI), oxygen saturation (SpO2), oxygen desaturation index (ODI), average SpO2 nadir, total arousal index, respiratory arousal index following the intervention of shankh (conch) blowing on patients with obstructive sleep apnea. 2. To evaluate the efficacy of shankh (conch) blowing on sleep related outcomes in patients with obstructive sleep apnea. 3. To explore efficacy of shankh (conch) blowing on quality of life, anxiety and depression in patients with obstructive sleep apnea. 4. To assess the efficacy of shankh (conch) blowing on anthropometric parameters in patients with obstructive sleep apnea. Timepoint: 6 months
