Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: All adult patients above 18 years undergoing aortic valve replacement in our hospital.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Inadequate TEE images, patient refusal, Redo AVR, Contraindication to TEE probe, When CABG or multiple valve repair/replacement to be done as part of surgery, presence of more than mild mitral regurgitation or stenosis, intracardiac or extracardiac shunt, Second run on CPB, LVEF less than 40%
Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| To compare and correlate the effective orifice area by 2D and 3D echocardiography of prosthetic valves implanted at aortic position.Timepoint: Transesophageal echocardiography after induction(before initiation of cardiopulmonary bypass), post valve placement(after coming off from Cardiopulmonary bypass) Trans thoracic echocardiography 48hrs after surgery and before discharge of the patient. | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| 1. To correlate between EOA obtained by 3D echocardiography with less flow dependent parameters like DVI, AT, AT/ET 2. To compare effective orifice area obtained by 3D echocardiography with previously published EOA of prosthetic aortic valve. 3. To correlate intraoperative effective orifice area (EOA) in the intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) & after 48 hours of surgery with transthoracic echocardiography (TTE).Timepoint: Transesophageal echocardiography after induction(before initiation of cardiopulmonary bypass), post valve placement(after coming off from Cardiopulmonary bypass) Trans thoracic echocardiography 48hrs after surgery & before discharge of the patient. | — |
