Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: All patients of age more than or equal to 16 years presenting to AIIMS Patna emergency room in sepsis with shock
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Traumatic shock patient Known case of congestive cardiac failure with poor left ventricular function Known case of decompensated liver and kidney disease Cardiac tamponade Concomitant attack of a severe airway disease like asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease that may have confounded the IVC interpretation Pneumothorax Any intrathoracic malignancy Massive pleural effusion Adrenal insufficiency Patients on medications like metformin, valproate etc which increases serum lactate level Pregnancy Patient with denial consent
