Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Ptaients between 18-65 years of age 2. Patients with minimum 4 weeks duration between index procedure and ileostomy closure.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Stenosis of ileostomy orifice. 2. Evidence of Distal Bowel Obstruction on Contrast study.

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To evaluate the recovery of bowel function after ileostomy closure with or without preoperative bowel stimulation with regards to time to passage of flatus and return of bowel sounds after surgery.Timepoint: 4 hours post operative

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
presence of prolonged ileus in terms of intolerance of oral feed, vomiting, abdominal distension. presence of any anastomotic leakage. post operative length of hospital stayTimepoint: 7 and 14 days.
