Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Severe traumatic brain injury, Within 24 hours of injury, Receiving mechanical ventilation with a tidal volume of 10ml/kg of ideal body weight (IBW)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with associated ocular injury, spinal cord injury, chest injury, history of aspiration, chronic cardiopulmonary disease, lung disease, obstructive sleep apnea, body mass index of more than or equal to 30 kg/m2, fraction of inspired oxygen requirement > 0.4

Change in optic nerve sheath diameter.Timepoint: 1 Hour

MeasureTime frame
The secondary objective is to see the effect of low tidal volume ventilation regional cerebral oxygen saturation.Timepoint: 45-60 Minutes
