Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Undergoing Abdominal surgery

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: -Patient with hypermagnesaemia -Patient with any heart block -Patient with hypertension -Patient with diabetes mellitus -Patient with pre-term pregnancy, multiple pregnancies -Patient’s refusal

1)To access the effect of magnesium sulphate on pain relief as well as incidence of awareness after abdominal surgery. 2)To evaluate the total analgesic consumption during first post-operative day. 3)To observe the time for first rescue analgesia. 4)To study haemodynamic variables( Pulse rate,Mean arterial pressure) 5)To study drug side effects if any.Timepoint: Baseline,5 minutes then every 15 minutes,post operative day 1
