Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Systolic blood pressure less than 90 mmHg and mean arterial pressure less than 65 mmHg associated with any of the following 1) Heart rate greater than 100 per minute 2) Lactate greater than 2 mmol per liter 3) Oliguria with urine output less than 0.5 ml per kg per hour for greater than 2 hours

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Patients with agitation or altered sensorium 2) Pregnancy 3) Known cardiovascular disorders 4) Irregular heart rhythm 5) On inotropes or vasopressor support 6) Neck injuries that impair the ultrasonographic views 7) Patients who require urgent resuscitation like CPR, cardioversion, etc.
