Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Women, at-least 6 weeks postpartum, over 30 years of age with history of GDM. 2. Willing to give written informed consent. 3. IDRS more than 50 or IGT

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Women with a body mass index of =40 kg/m2 2. Women with severe physical illness, any systemic disease such as diabetes mellitus, cardiac, renal disease, or any acute infection 3. Women with known contraindication to metformin 4. Women on corticosteroids 5. Not willing to follow-up

Primary

MeasureTime frame
We expect an improvement of 25% in fasting and postprandial blood sugar, HOMA-IR and lipid profile in women with history of GDM and IDRS score of more than 50 with ayurvedic treatment and lifestyle.Timepoint: 3,6,12,18 and 24 months

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
We expect good acceptability with ayurvedic treatment with long term benefits in women with moderate risk score of 30-50.Timepoint: 3,6,12,18 and 24 months
