Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients diagnosed with GDM and who are less than 96 hours postpartum.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Pre-existing diabetes/ Overt diabetes. Patients not willing for participation. Not able to take three meals. Patient on corticosteroids, antidepressants, diuretics, beta blockers. Patients with history of gastric bypass surgery.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Sensitivity, specificity, Positive predictive value (PPV), Negative predictive value (NPV) of early post-partum OGTT for impaired glucose tolerance and diabetes mellitus. Timepoint: At 12 week post partum

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Compliance for post partum follow-up Timepoint: Follow up rate at 6 to 12 week postpartum to repeat GTT (glucose tolerance test)
