Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adult American Society of Anaesthesiologists physical status 1-2 patients, aged 18-60 years, with obesity (BMI more than 25 Kg per m2)or COPD, requiring GA administration for non-cardiac surgery, will be included in the pilot study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with heart disease, 2. Known endocrine abnormality, 3. Patients with a documented reduced ejection fraction, 4. Anticipated difficult airway, 5. American Society of Anaesthesiologists physical status �3, 6. Patients on ACE inhibitors, 7. Preoperative autonomic neuropathy, and, 8. Patients with insignificant tricuspid regurgitation (TR) jet, will be excluded.

MeasureTime frame
Incidence of hypotension (defined as more than 20 percentage of decline in mean arterial pressure or absolute value less than 60 mmHg) in patients with preoperative Tricuspid Annular Systolic Plane Excursion/Pulmonary Artery Systolic Pressure ratio less than 0.55 and those with more than 0.55.Timepoint: Hypotension, assessed at 1 minute interval for the first 5 minutes after anaesthesia induction and at 2 minute interval for the next 10 minutes.

MeasureTime frame
Correlation of the preoperative echocardiographic parameters with the percentage decline in the mean arterial pressure.Timepoint: At 1 minute interval for the first 5 minutes Post-general anaesthesia induction & at 2 minutes interval thereof the next 10 minutes.
