Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: • Approval will be taken from Institutional ethics committee (IEC). • It will be a 1-week intervention program to decrease the excessive use of internet amongst adolescent students. • Developing a 45 mins education program based on Health belief model.(HBM) • Take a peer review using microteaching principles and • Seek permission from principals of school to conduct the study also and seek consent of parents and assent from students. • Program will be conducted with a pre-determined schedule time visit to the school. • To administer the scale on all participants, to take a pretest using the Internet addiction test-Adolescents (IAT-A)-duration of test time is as such not specified. Depending upon each student 10-15 mins approximately. • The Education Program Schedule : The 45 mins of education program will be based on 6 constructs of the HEALTH BELIEF MODEL, Namely ; (1) Perceived Susceptibility (2) Perceived Severity (3) Perceived Benefits (4) Perceived Barriers (5) Cue to action. (6) Self efficacy. • -Using the education type of intervention from the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework: Domain and Process-4th edition., domains of education to deliver a 45 mins education- presentation to the school students will be provided. • Students with higher internet addiction test â?? Adolescent(IAT-A) scores should be referred to Mental Health Professional for further management. • After one week administering the scale (IAT-A) again to the students under intervention for post test scores. • Approval will be taken from Institutional ethics committee (IEC). • Permission from school principals to conduct the study at school will be taken beforehand. • Patient will be explained about the purpose and the nature of the study. Consent will be taken from the students. Assent forms will also be taken from the student. • Outcome Measures - Internet Addiction Test â?? Adolescents will be done to analyse the internet using behaviour of the student. • Goal will be to decrease the excessive internet use amongst school adolescents. • Students will receive conventional occupational therapy intervention program based on the Heath Belief Model.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: • Participants diagnosed with any psychiatric disorder. • Participants with co- existing morbidities other then internet addiction. • Any diagnosis with neurological, cardio-vascular and musculoskeletal disorders Comparative : An occupational therapy educational intervention program based on health belief model does not have any effect on decreasing excessive internet use in school adolescents. Comparative : An occupational therapy educational intervention program based on health belief model increases excessive internet use among school adolescents.
