Intervention1: dexmedetomidine infusion20 minutes prior: Starting infusion of dexmedetomidine 0.75mcg/kg over 10 minutes. 20 minutes before induction of general anaesthesia Control Intervention1: dexm

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1)Patients posted for elective surgey under general anaesthesia and undergoing endotracheal intubation. 2)Elective surgery lasting less than 2 hours. 3)Patient in which laryngoscopy time asts less than 30 seconds. 4)ASA grade 1&2 physical status.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1)Patient refusal 2)Patient taking cardiovascular drrugs. 3)Patient in which we anticipate difficult intubation. 4)Allergy to study medication. 5)Anticipated major blood loss. 6)Pregnancy.

Primary

MeasureTime frame
the primary outcome is to arrive at the best time interval before induction, of dexmedetomidine infusion at which adequate blunting of hemodynamic stress response to intubation is achieve.Timepoint: immediately after intubation

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1) Measurement of hemodynamic response during surgery. 2) Complications related to drugs and airway management procedure. 3) Number of attempts to achieve successful intubation.Timepoint: One minute, three minutes, five minutes, fifteen minutes and every half an hour intraoperatively.
