Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patient willing to provide informed consent. Patients undergoing caesarean section surgery under spinal anaesthesia. Age 18years- 40 years. American socicty of anaesthesiologists (ASA) physical status 2

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patient not willing to provide informed consent. Preoperative temperature more than 38 C or less than 36 C Body mass index (BMI) more than 40 kg/m2. Patients who are on drugs that could affect thermoregulation (antidepressants, antipsychotics, antihistamines, diuretics etc). Pre-existing peripheral vascular disease, autonomic dysfunction, psychiatric illness, chronic pain disorder, hemodynamically unstable patients.

To determine whether a baseline perfusion index can predict shivering after spinal anaesthesia for patients undergoing caesarean section.Timepoint: To determine whether a baseline perfusion index can predict shivering after spinal anaesthesia for patients undergoing caesarean section till 120mins after the first incision.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Post anaesthetic shivering will be assessed according to Crossley and Mahajan scaleTimepoint: 120mins post 1st incision
