Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Parturients belonging to the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status Classes II and III, with uncomplicated cephalic singleton pregnancy in active labour and desirous of having a labour epidural will be will be recruited.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Include any contraindication for epidural placement like bleeding disorders, decreased platelet counts, sepsis, spinal column deformities, history of spine surgery and hypersensitivity to study drugs.
