Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients of both genders above 35 years and below 65 years. Patients with Osteopenia or osteoporosis. Patients with a history of osteoporosis related fractures. Quantitative calcaneal ultrasound T score more than minus 1.0. Patients willing and able to participate for 16 weeks. Patients with mild to moderate Vitamin D deficiency ( 12.5 to 49 nmol/l)9

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Known cases of Hypoparathyroidism or Hyperparathyroidism Hypothyroidism or Hyperthyroidism Known cases of Malabsorption syndrome and Pregnant or lactating woman. Patients with uncontrolled Diabetes mellitus. Patient whose serum ca++ level less than 2.2 or more than 2.6 mmol/l (less than 9 or more than 10.5mg/dl). Any metabolic bone disease Patient with a history of fragility fracture and Long bone fracture in last 6 months. history of Chronic liver disease or chronic renal failure and uncontrolled Pulmonary Dysfunction. Organ transplantation and evidence of malignancy. Prolonged immobilization (more than or equal 6 weeks). Alcoholics or drug abusers and hypersensitivity to any of the trial drugs. history of Myocardial Infarction, stroke in last 6 months and clinical evidence of heart failure. Patient under any drug which is known to affect bone metabolism (SERMs,) Bisphosphonates, Calcitonin, Vitamin D and corticosteroids for more than 3 month. Any other condition in which the P.I think it may jeopardise the study

MeasureTime frame
To assess the efficacy of Lakshadi guggulu with Haridra (lakadong turmeric) in the asthikshya patients and impoving the Vitamin D levels in the patients. Timepoint: patients will be assessed before treatment and on 6th week and 12th week

1. Improve the patient’s symptoms of Asthikshaya i.e. improvement in pain in joints, weakness, improvement in distorted nails, hairs and improvement in the other symptoms related to Vitamin D deficiency, S. calcium deficiencyTimepoint: 6 months
