Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ASA status 1 or 2 giving consent for upper limb surgery under brachial plexus block by low interscalene approach.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients having peripheral vascular disease Patient refusal to the block procedure contraindication to regional anesthesia e.g., any allergy to local anesthetic drugs, block site infection ,coagulation disorders.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To compare the PI and PI ratio between the blocked arm with bupivacaine and blocked arm with bupivacaine and clonidine at baseline,5 min,10 min,15 min,20 min and 30 min after placement of the block. To find the cut off value of PI and PI ratio at various time points that can predict the result of brachial plexus block. Timepoint: 5 min,10 min,15 min,20 min,30 min

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To compare the hemodynamic stability(Mean arterial pressure and heart rate)in the two groups.Timepoint: 5 min,10 min,15 min,20 min and 30 min
