Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ASA I,II,III Geriatric patients(age more than or equal to 65 years) scheduled for orthopaedic trauma surgeries under sub arachnoid block

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patient refusal Undergoing surgery under general anaesthesia BMI more than 30 Head injury spine injury or any neuropathy Symptomatic cardiac disease including cardiomyopathy and mild to severe valvular disease pulmonary hypertension. Peripheral arterial disease or atherosclerosis Any preexisting conditions which preclude neck ultrasonography

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To compare IVC-CI guided fluid management with carotid FTc guided fluid management for prevention of hypotension in elderly orthopaedic trauma patients undergoing surgery under regional anaesthesiaTimepoint: Repeat scan after 15 minutes

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To compare the prediction of post spinal hypotension using IVC-CI and carotid FTc in geriatric patients undergoing orthopaedic trauma surgery. Timepoint: Assessing vitals for 30 minutes; To document the incidence of surgical delays stemming from IVC-CI or FTc guided fluid therapy.Timepoint: Pre operative stay of the patient should not exceed 30 minutes
