Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients with Age = 18years diagnosed with DKA

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patient in Shock requiring inotropes 2. Patients who received treatment for DKA prior to the arrival to emergency 3. Patient diagnosed with advanced liver disease 4. Patient diagnosed with advanced kidney disease 5. Pregnant patient 6. Patient who are known allergic to glargine

MeasureTime frame
To compare the time duration in resolution of diabetes ketoacidosis between patient receiving early glargine with standard insulin versus patients receiving standard insulin therapy aloneTimepoint: To be assesed every 4hour along with blood gas reports till the resolution of diabetic ketoacidosis

MeasureTime frame
To compare occurrence of complications like hypoglycemia hypokalemia rebound hyperglycemia between patient receiving early glargine with standard insulin versus patients receiving standard insulin therapy alone.Timepoint: Till 24 hrs after resolution of Diabetic ketoacidosis;To compare the duration of hospital stay between patient receiving early glargine with standard insulin versus patients receiving standard insulin therapy alone.Timepoint: Till patient is deemed eligible for discharge in accordance with treating physician.;To compare total insulin requirement in term of dose between patient receiving early glargine with standard insulin versus patients receiving standard insulin therapy alone.Timepoint: Till the resolution of diabetic ketoacidosis
