Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Participants aged between 40 to 59 years will be screened to identify their hypertension status (self-reported hypertension which is physician-diagnosed and measured and found to have increased blood pressure during the screening). Those who are hypertensive (physician-diagnosed and case-identified during the screening) will be considered after getting their consent for and assurance to remain in contact for a period of at least 4 months in the study. The eligible candidates are expected to have a smartphone and WhatsApp which is easily accessible to them. The eligible participants will be either allotted an intervention group or a control group.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: People who have conditions such as pregnancy, psychological problems, learning difficulties, and vision or hearing impairments will be excluded from the study. Those patients who have undergone recent surgery or are differently abled, patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus, and those who have life-threatening conditions will also be excluded from the study. Considering the risk, those with a systolic blood pressure of 180 mmHg and above and or diastolic blood pressure of 110 mmHg and above will be excluded.
