Inclusion criteria: Patients aged more than 30 years of either gender. ASA-II and III, diagnosed with essential hypertension and on regular therapy with ARB for at least 1 month as monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensive agent. Patients scheduled for elective surgeries under spinal anaesthesia.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To compare the hemodynamic response in terms of incidence of post spinal hypotension and bradycardia in hypertensive patients scheduled for surgery under spinal anaesthesia who will be continuing or discontinuing ARB on the morning of surgery.Timepoint: Hemodynamic parameters i.e. NIBP and HR will be recorded every 2 min for the first 10 min, every 5 min till 60 minutes after giving spinal anaesthesia and then every 10 mins till the end of surgery.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To compare the severity of hypotension and total usage of vasopressor medication in two groups.Timepoint: Till the duration of surgery.
