Intervention1: Thoracic Segmental Spinal Anesthesia: 2mL of 0.5% isobaric bupivacaine diluted with 3 mL of sterile distilled water and 2 mL of this solution (4mg) will be drawn up in a sterile syringe

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ASA 1 and 2 undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.contraindications to spinal anesthesia such as bleeding diasthesia or local infections 2.known allergy to study drugs

Proportion of patients achieving home readiness (PADSS= 9) at 6 hours after GA or TSSA for laparoscopic cholecystectomy Timepoint: 6 hours after anesthesia

1. Mean time to achieve PADSS = 9 (hrs) 2. Proportion of patients developing a) Haemodynamic instability b) Shoulder tip pain c) Postoperative nausea and vomiting d) Headache 3. Median (IQR) patient satisfaction scale 4. Median (IQR) surgeon satisfaction scale 5. Mean ± SD analgesic requirement (mg) in 24 hours Timepoint: 1.at end of anesthesia 2.first 24 hours post operative period
