Intervention1: Caudal block: Caudal analgesia with general anaesthesia . A single shot of caudal analgesia with ropivacaine (0.2%) at 1ml/kg will be given 5 mins after intubation Control Intervention1

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients aged between 1 – 6 years American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status 1 and 2 Scheduled for elective infraumbilical surgeries

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Baseline blood sugar less than 70mg/dl Patients allergic to local anesthetics History of endocrine disorders Patients on steroid supplementation Any contraindication for caudal block Malformation of spine Infection around puncture site Coagulation dysfunction

MeasureTime frame
To compare the blood glucose levels in children undergoing infraumbilical surgeries under general anaesthesia with and without caudal analgesiaTimepoint: Baseline 30 minutes after start of surgery 60 minutes after start of surgery 30 minutes after end of surgery

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To compare intraoperative hemodynamic parameters between two groups Timepoint: Hemodynamic parameters such as HR, Spo2, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, mean arterial pressure, end tidal carbon dioxide will be monitored & values will be noted at 5mins, 10 mins, 15 mins, 20 mins, 30 mins, 40 mins, 50 mins, 60 mins, 70 mins, 80 mins, 90 mins, 100 mins, 110 mins, 120 mins.
