Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1)CASES 1 birth weight less than 1750 2 gestational age less than 33 weeks 3 APGAR at 5 minutes less than 7 4 use of surfactant 5 use of anticonvulsant 6 phototherapy within 24 hours 7 cardiopulmonary resuscitation 8 use of blood products 9 use of corticosteroids for hypoglycemia 10 use of parenteral antibiotics for more than 7 days 11 major surgery in first week 12 use of continuous positive pressure ventilation 13 intubation 14 use of any vasoactive drugs 2) CONTROLS term healthy neonates born and admitted at government multi specialty hospital sector 16 chandigarh in post natal ward

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1 neonates whose mothers are unable or unwilling to provide antenatal findings 2 those born at hospitals other than government multi specialty hospital sector 16 chandigarh 3 all enrolled neonates who die
