Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients admitted to ICU/HDU at Kasturba Hospital, 2. Must meet the criteria for sepsis according to sepsis 3 guidelines (2 or more SOFA -sequential organ failure assessment score).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with thyroid dysfunction 2. Chronic kidney disease 3. Chronic liver disease 4. Pregnancy 5. Malignancy 6. Malabsorption 7. On drugs like steroids 8. Familial hyperlipidemias 9. Chronic inflammatory conditions like HIV, SLE, rheumatoid arthritis 10. patients who left the hospital against medical advice 11. post operative sepsis.

MeasureTime frame
To determine correlation between HDL levels, mortality in patients admitted in ICU/HDU in sepsis.Timepoint: 1 month.

To determine correlation between HDL cholesterol and SOFA (sequential organ failure assessment score)Timepoint: on day of admission.
