Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients of any gender, aged 14 –50 years, with a history of traumatic dental injury (Concussion / Subluxation / Extrusion / Intrusion/ Lateral luxation/ Avulsion) No evidence of caries or periodontal disease during intraoral examination or radiographic examination Systemically healthy patients with a non-contributory medical history

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patient with a history of Systemic inflammatory conditions or any chronic disease Patients who have taken systemic antibiotics or anti-inflammatory medications within one month prior to enrollment will be excluded. Patient with primary or secondary acute periodontitis Periodontal probing depth greater than 4mm

Primary

MeasureTime frame
1. Correlation coefficient between IL-1a levels and occurrence, extent and progression of external root resorption (ERR) defect if any developed in patients with a history of traumatic dental injury. Timepoint: Baseline, 6 weeks, 3 months and 6 months

1. Correlation between the type and severity of dental trauma and IL-1a levels in GCF and occurrence of ERR. 2. Calculation of sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV) to assess the accuracy of IL-1a in GCF as a predictive biomarker for ERR development in patients with traumatic dental injury 3. Changes in IL-1a levels in gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) before and after the appropriate intervention for external root resorptionTimepoint: Baseline,6 weeks, 3 months and 6 months
