Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Hostel resident students who are suffering from Upper Respiratory Tract Infections. Hostel resident students who have been prescribed cough syrups by the practitioners or are self medicating Hostel resident students who are voluntarily consenting to be a part of the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Hostel resident students who are suffering from Long standing chronic respiratory illness or suffering from major illnesses such as Tuberculosis, Bronchial Asthma, etc. Hostel resident students who are on any other liquid based medications apart from cough syrups.

Salivary pH (Range from 0 to 14 with 0 being high acidic, 7 being neutral and 14 being highly alkaline)Timepoint: TIme Points as follows: Salivary pH assessments at the following points: 1. Before Intervention 2. Immediately after intervention 3. 10 minutes after intervention 4. 30 Minutes after intervention.
