Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients with acute stroke 2) Dependent on nursing staff for oral care on mechanically ventilated

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Stroke mimics 2) Strokes not affecting the ability of self oral care by patients themselves 3) Rapidly recovering deficits allowing self brushing 4) Aspiration pneumonia at presentation 5) Any existing oral infection 6) Any other contraindication for oral care using toothbrush 7) Denial of consent by patient or lAR
