Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: a) Subjects of either gender, between the ages of 20 and 60 years. i. Presence of at least 20 natural teeth. ii. Healthy subjects with clinical parameters of bleeding on probing less than 10 % and probing depth less than or equal to 3 mm iii. Patients with diagnosis of generalised stage III grade B periodontitis with clinical parameters of probing depth more than or equal to 6 mm and clinical attachment loss more than or equal to 5 mm b) Subjects with type 2 diabetes mellitus ( HbA1c more than or equal to 6.4 % but less than 7 % )
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: a) Individuals with systemic diseases other than T2DM b) Obese individuals, BMI more than 25 kg/m2 c) Smokers d) Pregnant/Lactating and postmenopausal women e) Individuals who have received periodontal therapy in the last 6 months f) Individuals who have had a history of antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory therapy in last 6 months
