Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: children of age 1 to 5 year of wither gender belonging to ASA 1 and 2 undergoing elective surgery under general anesthesia requiring endotracheal tube insertion.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: patient with acute respiratory infection, any congenital heart disease, cerebro-vascular disease, any emergency surgery, children with history of seizures, asthma & airway irritability will be excluded from study.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
we are trying to observe the cuff pressure for both the micro-cuffed ETT and Conventional ETT.Timepoint: Regularly observing the cuff pressure at regular interval at baseline right after intubation and during surgery up to 120 minutes.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To assess variations during the course of intubation. Also comparing the duration taken to intubate the patient, need of exchange of the Tubes & incidences of post-extubation complications using these two ETTs.Timepoint: Assessment of time taken to intubate at baseline, tube exchange can be done at any point during the surgery depending upon the intra-operative ventilators parameters. Incidence of complications will be observed up to 30 min post extubation.
