Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. ASA 1 and 2 patients 2. Posted for elective tympanomastoidectomy surgical procedures requiring general anaesthesia with endotracheal intubation

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with active Upper Respiratory Tract Infection (URTI) 2. Surgical procedures lasting for more than 180 minutes. 3. Mallampatti Grade (MPG) III and IV 4. Anticipated difficult intubation 5. More than 1 attempt for endotracheal intubation 6. Obesity (BMI > 30) 7. Gastro-esophageal reflux disease, Pregnancy 8. Patients with significant cardiovascular and respiratory diseases such as asthma, COPD 9. Patients with significant pre-operative derangement of renal/hepatic functions 10. Any allergic reaction to Dexmedetomidine
