Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.All emergency midline laparotomy with CDC class IV wounds 2.Age 18-75 years 3.Ready to give consent for participation in the study

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Immunocompromised patients 2.ICU patient requiring ventilator support 3.Non Hollow viscous perforation peritonitis.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To compare the rate of SSI in Emergency laparotomy Class IV wounds with or without NPWTTimepoint: 60 days or day of mortality

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To assess the post operative hospital stay, time to skin closure, Quality of Life assessment by SF 36 questionnaire and Assessment of wound healing progress by Redness, Oedema, Ecchymosis, Discharge and Approximation (REEDA) scale and Vancouver Scar Scale (VSS) in Emergency laparotomy Class IV wounds with or without NPWTTimepoint: 60 days or day of mortality
