Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Children aged 1 year to 5 years of age admitted or visited the Department of Paediatrics, KMC Manipal who have vitamin D deficiency or insufficiency who were evaluated for the ICMR study (RCN/Adhoc/59/2022-23)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1)Children with chronic kidney and liver disease, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, malabsorption condition, autoimmune disease, and malignancy. 2)Children who are on Antiepileptic medication, antiretroviral drugs, steroids, Ketoconazole. 3)Children who are already on Vitamin D supplementation in the previous 6 weeks.

To identify the factors contributing to low Vitamin D levels after supplementation.Timepoint: After 6 doses of vitamin D supplementation

MeasureTime frame
To measure and compare the post-supplementation Vitamin D levels with baseline levels to determine the effectiveness of the supplementation.Timepoint: From 1 st dose of vitamin D till 6 days after last dose.
