Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients diagnosed as diabetics as per American Diabetes Association (ADA) criteria. Adult patients (age group 30-65 years)undergoing abdominal dual energy CT for pathologies not related to pancreas or without any systemic or chronic disease other than diabetes.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with pancreatic diseases such inflammation, cysts or tumours. Patients with acute complications of diabetes such as diabetic ketoacidosis, hypertonic coma or lactic acidosis etc. Patients who are on steroids. Pregnant and lactating women since they cannot undergo DECT examination. Patients in whom the area of interest in the region of pancreas cannot be delineated well using DECT images Participants who have received previous radiation therapy or surgery to the pancreas region.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To quantify pancreatic fat using dual energy CT in type 2 diabetes mellitus patient. Timepoint: Parameteres of patient will be assessed at baseline

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To assess the determinants of pancreatic fat infiltration (body mass index, biochemical lipid profile, HbA1c, liver function tests, Effects of antidiabetic medication on pancreatic fat)Timepoint: Parameteres of patient will be assessed at baseline
