Intervention1: Injection Carbetocin: Single dose of 100 micrograms given intravenous bolus over 1 minute. Control Intervention1: Injection Oxytocin: intravenous infusion of 20 IU of Oxytocin in 500 ml

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Age group : > 18 Years Singleton pregnancy Term gestation Decision made for a cesarean section in labor Who have given consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Women with known coagulopathy Study drug hypersensitivity Oligohydromnios or polyhydromnios Cardiac disease (including dysrhythmia) Hyper tension Liver, renal or endocrine disease (except gestational diabetes) Uterine fibroids or suspicion of placental pathology (accreta, previa or abruptio)

2 Blood pressure recordings during surgery 1 Intra operative blood loss (table) Timepoint: 37-40 weeks of gestation

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Difference in haemoglobin taken before the Caesarean section and 48 hours after the caesarean section. Need for additional uterotonics was noted. Nausea and vomiting were evaluated. Timepoint: 24hrs
