Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Consenting adult patients 2. Aged 18 – 60 yrs. 3. ASA (American society of anaesthesiologists) grade I and II 4. Posted for elective surgery under general anaesthesia. 5. Modified Mallampati (MMP) grade I and II patients. 6. Patients having full range of neck movements

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: A) Any cervical spine disease / fixation / operation B) Mouth opening less = 2 finger width of patients C) Facial anomalies maxillary hypoplasia, mandibular hypoplasia / hyperplasia D) TMJ pathology- ankylosis or reduced movement E) Microstomia F) Tumors of mouth and tongue G) Macroglossia . H) Teeth problems - edentulous, loose teeth, protruding upper incisors. I) Pharynx pathology – hypertrophied tonsils adenoids, J) Larynx Pathology- epiglottitis, laryngomalacia, tumor, congenital stenosis K) Surgery involving oral cavity or throat.

MeasureTime frame
To compare the rate of successful insertion in first attempt, number of attempts required for successful insertion, requirement of external manipulation and occurrence of complications between protector LMA and I-gel patient groups, including laryngospasm, bronchospasm, regurgitation / aspiration.Timepoint: 1 YEAR
