Intervention1: Lumbar Erector Spinae Block: The child is to be placed in the prone position. After maintaining aseptic conditions, a 7 to 13 MHz linear ultrasound probe will be placed in the paramedia

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: a)Age â?? 1 years to 15 years b) ASA Status I to II c)Undergoing unilateral hip and proximal femur surgeries

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: a) Refusal of parental consent b) History of developmental delay or intellectual disability c) History of allergic reactions to local anaesthetics d) Rash or infection at the injection site e) Anatomical abnormality f) Bleeding diatheses g) History of renal, hepatic, cardiac, and neurological diseases h) History of previous opioid intake

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Total post-operative Fentanyl (analgesic) consumption in each group during the first 24 hours.Timepoint: 24 hours

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1) Intraoperative parameters (HR, BP, Sp02). 2) Intraoperative Fentanyl consumption 3) Procedural time (Lumbar ESB/ Caudal block) 4) Time to first analgesic bolus requirement and the number of patients not requiring rescue analgesia. 5)FLACC or VAS Scores (Recorded at postoperative 0, 2, 4, 8, 12, and 24 hours after providing tender loving care and comfort). 6) No. of patients with FLACC / VAS scores >4 and >7. 7) Parental satisfaction regarding analgesia at the end of 24 hours following surgery. 8) Quality of sleep on the first night following surgery 9)Salivary cortisol levels [STRESS MARKER] - (4 samples, 1 â?? preop, 2 â?? post-induction, 3- immediate postoperative period, 4- 24hrs post-surgery) Timepoint: 0 mins, 2 hours, 4 hours, 8 hours, 12 hours , 24 hours
